Self-hostable cloud suite from Germany.
About Nextcloud
Nextcloud is an open-source collaboration platform that began in 2016 as a fork of ownCloud, led by ownCloud's original founder Frank Karlitschek. The company behind it, Nextcloud GmbH, is based in Stuttgart, Germany, and develops the software together with a large volunteer community.
Unlike conventional cloud services, Nextcloud is software you (or a provider you trust) host yourself: files, calendars, contacts, video calls and office documents all run on infrastructure you control. Hundreds of apps extend the platform, and dozens of European hosters offer managed instances for users who do not want to run their own server.
Because the entire stack is open source under the AGPL, there is no vendor lock-in and the code is publicly auditable. Nextcloud has become the de-facto standard for sovereign clouds in the European public sector, with large deployments in German federal agencies, French ministries and universities across the continent.
