Avocadostore

Avocadostore is Germany's largest online marketplace for sustainable products, founded in Hamburg in 2010. It hosts hundreds of independent brands and dealers selling fashion, cosmetics, furniture and household goods to customers in Germany and Austria.

Every product must meet at least one of ten sustainability criteria — among them organic materials, fair wages, resource-saving production, vegan ingredients and durability — and sellers must document the claim for each listing. The criteria are displayed on every product page, making the reasoning transparent rather than relying on a vague "green" label.

As a marketplace of small and mid-sized labels, Avocadostore functions as a counter-model to Amazon: slower logistics and a narrower selection, but verifiable standards, European supply chains and money that flows to independent businesses rather than a global platform.
